The day we got married, I and my husband decided to spend most of our anniversaries in a different place, trying local experiences and cuisine and reflect back on our relation, highs and lows of the year and reboot it for the coming year and let me tell you this was the best decision we ever made as a couple. It is quite overwhelming to get lost and caught up in the routines, quite often we take the person living with us for granted and believe me this keeps piling up until one of them finally decides to leave.
The best thing about our annual pact is, we exactly know when are we travelling and what is our budget and it helps us to save money easier, you can also cash in some great discounts if you book things well in advance.
So for our first anniversary, we decided to visit Thailand, Mainly for two reasons:
- Thai massages
- Beaches and blue sky
(Last but not least we got huge discount on booking and it really made us happy)
So we visited Thailand with Veena world, India’s most admired travel company, mostly because we wanted to skip the pain of planning the whole travel by ourselves. We opted for their couple’s special Thailand tour, which costed us around 48k for 6 days 5 nights and it covered Bangkok&Pattaya with all the meals included.
So we met our group and our tour leader Rakesh Disale on T2 terminal on Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai. He gave us dry snacks hampers and guided us about the whole check-in and immigration process. Finally we boarded the flight and landed in Suvarnabhumi Airport, the whole airport ambience just took my breath away. I was awestruck with its beauty and glory.
After collecting our luggage, we were accompanied by Rakesh to our A/c coach where we were given the yummiest ever banana muffin & water bottles, after which we were introduced to Nok, our local guide from Thailand. Rakesh & Nok have been with us like our shadows and were so reliable and easy to connect with.
We proceeded to Pattaya and visited the tallest building of Pattaya, Pattaya Tower and experienced Tower Jump which gives breathtaking view of the city. After that we had our lunch and were allotted our rooms and given time to freshen up & rest, later we enjoyed the famous cabaret show – Alcazar Show in the evening. We had our dinner and roamed around Pattaya till midnight.
So during our whole tour we followed a magic number given to us by Rakesh & Nok, Like if our magic number was 6, 7 and 8.that meant, we will get a wakeup call at 6 am, have breakfast at 7 and leave for sightseeing and other experiences at 8 am.
On our second day we visited Coral Island. Coral Island, known locally as Koh Hae, is a beautiful getaway destination located three kilometers southeast of Phuket. The island features two main beaches, Long Beach and Banana Beach. It’s not called Coral Island for nothing; the snorkeling off Banana Beach is thrilling and if you go out far enough from Long Beach you will also have a lot to discover, at its impressive coral reef. Here we enjoyed parasailing and Speed boat ride which was quite an adventure. We also viewed colorful underwater life from Glass Bottom Boat ride. We also got a chance to enjoy various water sports like Banana Boat etc and had the best coconut water ever. In the evening we got relaxing Thai massage after which we self explored Pattaya in night. We went to walking street, tried local cuisines, attended various shows and had time of our lives.
On 3rd day, we left for Bangkok. En route, we visited the famous and world’s biggest Gems Gallery where we enjoyed shopping of precious stones and witnessed a spectacular show in light and sound presentation of the glittering world of gems. Later we visited Nong Nooch village – biggest and most beautiful botanical garden & enjoyed Pottery Garden, famous Elephant show and Thai cultural show. Then we proceeded to Bangkok.
On 4th day we visited Madame Tussauds. Then we had free time for shopping at MBK. In the evening we enjoyed dining experience along the Chao Phraya River Dinner Cruise, where we had amazing dinner and danced our hearts out.
On 5th day we visited the Safari World – an open zoo where visitors can marvel at the animals living in their natural habitat. At Marine Park, there are a variety of exotic marine animals and shows like Orang Utang Monkey Kick Boxing Show, Cowboy Stunt Show, Sea Lion Show, and Dolphin Show. Here we got an opportunity to have the closest encounter with rare and endangered species of the animal kingdom. Later we enjoyed shopping at Indra Square.
On our last day we had city orientation tour which included the ‘Wat-Pho’ – the temple of the reclining Buddha and Principle Buddha and ‘Wat Traimit’ – the temple of the Golden Buddha .During the whole tour everything was so organized & there was not a single moment where we regretted opting for veena world.
We left Thailand with misty eyes and heavy hearts with lots of memories and lovely people we met along the journey. We made sure to have massages on every single day of our tour & the best part was that we celebrated our 1st anniversary dancing and dining on dinner cruise.
